Salomons, Julian

(1836-1909)
   New South Wales politician. He emigrated to Australia from Birmingham at the age of 17 and settled in Sydney. He was a lawyer and served on the legislative council and in the office of the solicitor-general. He became chief justice in 1886, but did not take up the appointment. In the 1890s he became agent-general of the colony in London. He was knighted in 1891.
